I gave a presentation a while back to a group of folks preparing for the diaconate.
At the break, one of the guys came up and asked me why none of the pictures of Jesus in my PowerPoint slide deck were traditional ones of him in brilliantly coloured robes with a halo.
In all honesty, this was not something I had ever consciously thought about, but as I examined them, I could see that he had a point.
Upon reflection, much of Christian art, particularly when Christ is the subject, is far from the way he must have actually looked.
Would we recognize the itinerant teacher from Nazareth?
Will the real Jesus please stand up?
