This week I  focused my Tweets on faith and kids. Perhaps there is a connection there?

This Sunday the gospel line that speaks to me is Jesus’ question, a lament, when he asks:

“But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

It seems to me that one of the reasons for a lack of faith on earth is that into each of our lives suffering comes and most of the time it arrives without warning and seemingly without purpose.

I had a number of Tweets to choose from this week on the subject of faith but the quote from Oswald Chambers rose to the top. Faith is trusting in God even though we can not understand the WHY of what is happening around us.

Sickness, death, pain, hurt, loss- we all experience these things as they are a part of human life. Jesus lived through these events and emotions in his own life and He is truly with us.

The challenge is to remain strong in our conviction- our faith- that God loves us in ways we can not fully understand right now.It is through love that we find the strength and courage  to move through the challenges of this life and one day we will understand the “ways of our God.”

St. Thomas Aquinas sums up faith when he says that: “To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”
