This Sunday: “Today’s scriptures present stories of two trees: the burning bush, that represents the reality of a soul that is receptive to God’s presence, and the fig tree, which represents God’s presence resisted and refused.a symbol of the communion of saints. All this culminates is a sending forth in mission…..”

Lent is a period of fasting which leads up to Easter that recalls Jesus’ 40-day fast in the wilderness, mentioned in the synoptic gospels. The Catholic Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday and ends right before the evening Masses of Holy Thursday, although Lenten penance continues through Holy Saturday
