CalculatorYesterday was my birthday. I celebrated the 29th anniversary of my 30th birthday with my family and many of my friends on Facebook.

A confession- I am a bad Facebook friend. I seldom comment or wish folk’s Happy Birthday. Now I feel bad as it was really wonderful to get a number of greetings from folks I have not seen in many years. I also got a beautiful card and messages from my sister-in-laws and a call from my brother.

My day was completed with a perfect dinner with my immediate clan, and the four of us had some laughs especially remembering our recent family vacation.

I did want to share a thought with my friends on the blog, especially on this the Ides of March.

When I was a kid, we got my Dad one of the first electronic calculators. As I remember it  cost about $300 and could add/subtract/multiply/divide. It was a modern day marvel.

One of the things I liked to do was to check out when I would officially become ancient. I was about 12 years old . I picked 60 as  the age when I would be declared over the hill. When you are 12 you never really think 60 will arrive.

I would then take my birth year- 1954, and add 60 to that, and the answer was:  Well never mind.

Time does fly especially when you are blessed and enjoying life.

Belated Happy Birthday, my friend. Just think — next year you get to join THE CLUB. I’ve been a member for two and a half years now, and it’s pretty cool — it even let me retire from my State job and spend my days with the infirm and the dying. So much more fulfilling thn the PR stuff! I hope you get to ease into retirement son!
