Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. –St.  Paul

One of the tasks I enjoy most about writing this blog is the selection of quotes for my Twitter Feed. My quest to catch up to Lady Gaga on Twitter has been a total failure . (She now has 18 million and I seem stuck at 247!)

Putting my embarrassment aside, each week I go on the hunt for some motivational quotes which show up on the sidebar of the blog. Go ahead look to you right- there they are.

Twitter is limited to 140 characters. This week’s posts will focus on the development of the homily, which is on the theme of Compassion. I thought I would  share with you some wisdom on this subject from various wise men and women that just can’t fit into a tweet.

Random acts of Wisdom on Compassion and Kindness:

  • When you carry out acts of kindness you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something inside your body responds and says, yes, this is how I ought to feel. –Harold Kushner

  • If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give. –George MacDonald

  • There is overwhelming evidence that the higher the level of self-esteem, the more likely one will be to treat others with respect, kindness, and generosity.–Nathaniel Branden

  • The worldly man treats certain people kindly because he ‘likes’ them: the Christian, trying to treat every one kindly, finds himself liking more and more people as he goes on – including people he could not even have imagined himself liking at the beginning.– C.S. Lewis

  • What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. They are but trifles, to be sure but, scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is inconceivable. –Unknown

  • If someone is too tired to give you a smile, leave one of your own, because no one needs a smile as much as those who have none to give. –Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch

  • I choose kindness…I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me. –Max Lucado
