Amazing Grace

I was looking for something completely different on the internet and came across this version of Amazing Grace by Hayley Westenra. There is just something about this hymn that that touches my soul and the way Haley sings it is “Amazing”.

According to WikipediaAmazing Grace” is a Christian hymn written by English poet and clergyman John Newton (1725–1807), published in 1779. With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God, “Amazing Grace” is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.

Take a moment and listen to Hayley perform and remember to get rid of those pesky Google Ads just click on the “X”. The lyrics follow the song:

“Amazing Grace”

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me…
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught…
My heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear…
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares…
We have already come.
T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far…
And Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me…
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be…
As long as life endures.

When we’ve been here a thousand years…
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise…
Than when we’ve first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me…
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind, but now I see.
