You just have to love Matthew’s gospel. One of the reasons is Matthew 5 which a young parishioner from St. Patrick’s took to a new level in this beautiful speech she wrote.

Her pen name is “Liagiba”- how cool is that to have a pen name at age 12. Next time this gospel comes up I think we should just turn over to “Liagiba” and let her run with it. Enjoy.

8 Steps to Get to Heaven

If I could guarantee you a ticket to Heaven, would YOU be willing to pay the price?

Good morning/afternoon teachers,honourable judges and fellow students.

Don’t worry I’m going to provide you with some guidelines on how to get that ticket.

It won’t cost you any money-BUT it will require your constant attention towards others. The guidelines to receive your ticket may seem quite simple, however they are easier said than done.

I will now give you the 8 steps you must accomplish before you are presented with your ticket.

The first step is to ask God for forgiveness of sins. You must tell God that you need Him to come into your life.When doing this, He will lead you through the rest of your steps. Now that one doesn’t seem to difficult, does it?

Are you there for your family and friends when they’re sad or hurt? Do you know that you can cry out to God and He will hear you? He will comfort you and help you to find peace when life ishard. I’m sure we have all experienced a loss that has left you feeling empty. Even if it hasn’t, it might have happened to one of your friends or family members. YOUR JOB IS TO BE THERE FOR THEM.

Number three is quite simple, you need to put trust and faith into Christ everyday. To show wisdom, strength, patience and discipline.

We’re halfway to Heaven!

Have you ever been in a situation where you wonder,”What Would Jesus Do?” and as soon as you asked it, you knew the right answer? On this journey, you will ask yourself this question many times and many times you will choose the right answer.

Have you ever heard of the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Well, this is step #5! I think that it’s the most important, I think it’s difficult, but I think it’s possible!

We’re almost there don’t worry if you make a mistake or miss a step for when the world says,”GIVE UP!,” Hope whispers,”Try it one more time.”

You all know step #6. Look on the inside of a person not the outside. God won’t judge you for the way you look outside but He judges your heart.

Our 7th step involves peace. God wants YOU to be filled with peace and then share it with others.

Can you believe it, we’re at step #8! We must believe in God even if others around us have decided not to. Don’t listen to the mean things they might say about you or Jesus. For what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will give us later.

You can stop there but I have a 9th lesson I’ve added to my own list. It is perseverance. I think that to have success in achieving these steps, you must persevere and never give up to stand next to God!

I bet you wished you brought a pen and piece of paper so you could write these steps down for your ticket. Well, don’t worry, you each have a copy.

Look at your book at home with the title-Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth or B-I-B- L-E, Bible for short. Chapter 5 in the Matthew section will provide you with a list of these guidelines or what is also known as the Beatitudes and they are all at your fingertips.

Here is a quote that represents all you will go through on your journey to Heaven.

“When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road your trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must but do not quit
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-
It’s when things go wrong that you must not quit!”
I wish you luck on your journey to paradise,I hope that I may see you there
and I will know that you have received your one-way ticket to Heaven.
